The concept is simple.
Oddthing is a New Zealand-based design studio founded by industrial designer Henry Caird.
From lighting to home accessories and workspace objects, our products add practicality and bring character to everyday spaces, without taking themselves too seriously. We work primarily with aluminium, alongside steel, brass and glass, and offer a wide range of colours, from bold powder-coat finishes through to neutral tones.
Our work has received design awards both domestically and internationally. Every product is developed in our Auckland studio and manufactured in New Zealand with local manufacturing partners.
We keep a range of products in stock that are ready to ship, while others are made to order or can be customised to suit your space.
Our products are available online and through selected retailers. From New Zealand, we ship worldwide, delivering directly to your door.

We prioritise working with local manufacturers in close proximity to our studio, often just a 15–20 minute drive away. This allows us to stay closely involved throughout the manufacturing process, maintain a high level of quality, and support our local economy.

Components are assembled in-house where required, ensuring consistency across each piece.
Packaging & Dispatch
Products are packaged in-house to meet our quality standards and dispatched from our Auckland-based studio.
Designer
Oddthing was established by Henry Caird, drawing on over a decade of experience in product development, along with a First Class Honours degree in Industrial Design. His approach focuses on simplicity without compromising character, user experience, or longevity. He is committed to creating useful objects that sit well in spaces and bring small, meaningful moments to everyday life.
